“People should make their own decisions where and how to spend appropriate funds in local budgets. People should decide themselves what language to speak. People should decide themselves what monuments they want to build,” the politician said.
During the meeting the parties discussed the need for speedy implementation of reforms in Ukraine, including the constitutional reform, an uncompromised and effective fight against corruption, democracy development and respect for opposition rights.
“... Instead of real work, instead of reforms, the government resorted to politically motivated persecution... Instead of working on reforms and fighting corruption, their agenda has been reduced to populism and harassment of opposition politicians under false pretexts,” he said.
“In this case, Yanukovych did not heed Firtash’ advice," Liovochkin said. He added that Firtash has always been a supporter of the European integration, while maintaining friendly relations with Russia.
