MP Serhiy Lovochkin (OPPOSITION BLOC) states that former President (2010-2014) Viktor Yanukovych ignored the advice of Group DF Board Chairman Dmytro Firtash on Ukraine’s European integration. He said this at a hearing of the Regional Court of Vienna (Austria) in the case of extradition of Dmytro Firtash to the United States.
“In this case, Yanukovych did not heed Firtash’ advice,” Lovochkin said.
He added that Firtash has always been a supporter of European integration, while maintaining friendly relations with Russia.
Lovochkin also confirmed that Firtash had some influence on Yanukovych and could advise him.
Lovochkin added that he had resigned following the dispersal of the student rally on the night of November 30, 2013, on the same day, but his resignation had not been accepted until January 17.
“Since that time I have not been in contact with Yanukovych and never saw him again,” Lovochkin said.
Recall, the news agency reported that the Vienna Regional Criminal Court was considering the US request to extradite Firtash on Thursday.
