The 170bln hryvnia funding for Ukraine’s healthcare system planned for in the consolidated budget does not cover the system’s minimum needs, especially amid the COVID-19 epidemic. OPPOSITION PLATFORM – FOR LIFE MP Serhiy Lovochkin believes that healthcare expenses must be made top priority over the rest budget costs.
Numerous problems of Ukraine’s healthcare system that surfaced due to COVID-19 pandemic had been put in place by previous administration that underfunded healthcare expenses. This was stated by OPPOSITION PLATFORM – FOR LIFE MP Serhiy Lovochkin commenting on the State Treasury data on Q1 state budget performance indicators.
Some economy sectors that had been growing recently plunged in Q1 of 2020, which proves that the recession in Ukraine had started way before the COVID-19 quarantine. The economic crisis is so obvious now, OPPOSITION PLATFORM – FOR LIFE MP Serhiy Lovochkin says, that it needs quick and decisive measures to be resolved.
Despite the ruling by the Constitutional Court, Ukraine’s government refuses to restore benefits for those affected by the Chornobyl disaster, and the start of the second stage of healthcare reform also deprived many of them of ability to receive medical care.
