The Central Election Commission (CEC) that had been elected during President Poroshenko’s tenure, has discredited itself. This was stated by OPPOSITION PLATFORM – FOR LIFE MP Serhiy Lovochkin in a commentary to the press.

“We will support the reset of the Central Election Commission’s composition. Poroshenko’s CEC has discredited itself completely, so our faction made a decision to vote on their resignation. Still, we’re in a vacuum situation now, when the old CEC no longer exists but people who had been appointed by the previous government continue fulfilling their responsibilities. Therefore, we believe this important agency must be reset. Elections within amalgamated communities are held regularly, and we’re about to vote in local elections, therefore it’s crucial that the CEC operates properly. We will vote for the new composition of the agency,” the politician said.

As reported, political opposition had been deprived of a chance to have its representatives in the previous composition of the Central Election Commission.

On Oct. 3, 2019 the president of Ukraine submitted a new composition of the CEC to the parliament. The list includes 17 persons, including OPPOSITION PLATFORM – FOR LIFE candidates Serhii Dubovyk and Yurii Miroshnychenko.
