Implementing the Minsk agreements, amending the Constitution, ensuring the rights of the opposition and reforming the economy are the key demands of the OPPOSITION BLOC. MP Serhiy Lovochkin, Deputy Chair of the parliamentary faction of the Opposition Bloc said this commenting on the results of the meeting of representatives of the OPPOSITION BLOC faction with French Senators on Monday, March 23.
“The most important issues for the OPPOSITION BLOC are the following: First of all, it is strict implementation of the Minsk agreements. Ukraine needs peace. Any military action must be stopped. We must demand that the opposing warring party implement the Minsk Accords. And we need to achieve this by diplomatic means. The use of weapons, which results in deaths of civilians, is unacceptable,” Serhiy Lovochkin said.
The second focal point, according to Serhiy Lovochkin, is a change in the Constitution.
“This will allow us to decentralize the government, which will give a strong impetus and become a source of economic reform and economic development for Ukraine’s regions. Regions will collect taxes in their own budgets, which they will be able to use to fund healthcare and education. Thus, the issue of filling the budget will be resolved,” the MP believes.
“Third is the persecution of the opposition. We discussed this issue with our French counterparts. In a modern Ukraine it is unacceptable to persecute people for political reasons - former parliamentarians, or those who are members of parliament now. They should not be persecuted for political reasons. This is our demand. Ukraine is a modern and democratic state, and this practice is unacceptable,” Serhiy Lovochkin is convinced.
In addition, according to the policy maker, the OPPOSITION BLOC focuses on reforming the economy.
“We hear about corruption scandals, but no reform takes place. This is unacceptable, the economy collapses, there is a huge decline in industrial output in the country, people lose their jobs, wages and pensions are slashed,” he said.
“The package of reforms proposed by the OPPOSITION BLOC, will solve these problems and return people to normal life,” Serhiy Lovochkin concluded.
