To bring the peace process in Donbas out of the impasse, the Ukrainian Parliament needs to take the first step by adopting the necessary laws and the new Constitution, which will provide a deep decentralization of power and economic independence of the regions. This was stated by MP from the OPPOSITION BLOC Serhiy Lovochkin. He is sure that if for 2-3 months there is no progress in the implementation of the Minsk agreements, “the country will once again be on the brink of disaster”.

“The peace process in Ukraine should become the beginning of a new wide format of cooperation in Europe. This will allow Ukraine creating a broad coalition of partners and donors for the restoration of Donbas. This requires the good will of all parties – Ukraine, Russia, EU and the USA. All they say about peace. But the problem today is what path and what formula will ensure a real peaceful development on the European continent. I am convinced that the first step is to made by the Ukrainian government after the necessary legislation and a new constitutional process,” Serhiy Lovochkin said.

In his opinion, Ukraine needs a new Constitution, which should provide a deep decentralization of power and economic independence of the regions.

“The restoration of peace in Ukraine will help to relieve tension in the relations of the leading countries of our continent. I see in it a historical, geopolitical and humanitarian responsibility of the Ukrainian authorities to the people,” the politician added.

Serhiy Lovochkin believes not enough efforts of the Ukrainian authorities in the question of peace. “The government is engaged in self-preservation and the division of portfolios, not the establishment of peace in Ukraine,” the politician.

“People in our country and our foreign partners are tired in our country. Everybody requires peace. Unlike the Ukrainian government, both Ukrainians and foreign leaders realize that any further delay in restoring the world will lead to chaos and disintegration of the country. The state is over saturated of uncontrolled weapons and growing radicalism,” the Deputy emphasized.

“The window of opportunity for Ukraine is the next two-three months. If in this period there is no progress and the implementation of the Minsk agreements – the country is on the brink of disaster. Therefore, the task of Parliament is to make peace a reality. The reality will be with new laws and a new Constitution,” the politician concluded.
