The government has been promising reforms for a year, but neither Ukrainians, nor international experts have seen them, which has now been confirmed in the world rankings. “The low ranking of Ukraine is a realistic assessment given to the Government of Ukraine by the international community for its poor performance and professionalism,” MP Serhiy Lovochkin (OPPOSITION BLOC) said in a statement.
“Ukraine ranks very low in the fight against corruption and economic freedom,” Serhiy Lovochkin said commenting on the 2015 Rule of Law Index of The World Justice Project, which ranked Ukraine the 70th among 102 countries. According to the index, Ukraine ranked 84th in the corruption index, 87th in the law and order and security category and 80th in the regulatory environment category.
“Global experts confirmed the lack of reforms promised by Yatseniuk and Co. The figures in this index are a realistic assessment given to the Government of Ukraine by the international community for its poor performance and professionalism. Ukraine lost this year for reform due to government inaction and populism,” Serhiy Lovochkin emphasized.
The MP believes that the second half of 2015 is critical for the promised reforms. “Ukraine’s future depends on whether the government will implement reforms and stop government corruption,” Serhiy Lovochkin concluded.
