Not only the opposition but also businesses are persecuted for political reasons in Ukraine. Yesterday's statement by Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk on the need to prosecute businessman Dmytro Firtash in the US is the evidence of this. Previous statements of the head of government and his People's Front allies also convey the same message, MP Serhiy Lovochkin (OPPOSITION BLOC) believes.

“Since last year the People's Front has unleashed unprecedented persecution of Firtash Group businesses and Inter - the largest TV channel in the country, which uncovers corruption of high-level Cabinet officials,” Lovochkin said.

He recalled that this winter NSDC Secretary Oleksandr Turchynov had demanded in his letter that the regulator shut down the channel in violation of the law.

“Now representatives of the People's Front continue to put unprecedented pressure to prevent the legitimate licensing of the Inter Channel,” the MP stressed.

“Political statements and actions of the Prime Minister selectively discriminate against Firtash Group businesses causing them to shut down, reduce payments to the budget and cut jobs,” he said.

The opposition demands to stop the use of selective justice, pressure on business and freedom of speech, political persecution, put into practice by the Prime Minister and his party, Serhiy Lovochkin stressed.

“The policy pursued by the Prime Minister and his party, has nothing to do with democracy, about which they like to talk so much. They violate basic democratic principles and are mired in corruption. I am convinced of the fallacy of this course and the rapid demise of the current government and their political force. The Cabinet cannot be led by a politician and a political party with the approval rating of less than three percent - this is a real assessment of the government and the People's Front performance. I am sure that the next local elections to be held in the autumn will show the complete political bankruptcy of the People's Front,” the member of parliament summed up.
