The draft Tax Code does not stand any criticism, because it does not reduce basic tax rates. Serhiy Lovochkin, a member of parliament from the OPPOSITION BLOC faction, said this on the sidelines of the Verkhovna Rada on Tuesday, December 22, according to the OB website.

“We are not satisfied with excessive decentralization of taxes, discrimination against small and medium businesses. Business will not develop under these conditions,” Serhiy Lovochkin said.

According to him, the OPPOSITION BLOC does not support currently existing options for the tax reform. “Although, when compared, the draft offered by Nina Yuzhanina looks better than that of the government,” the member of parliament noted.

According to Serhiy Lovochkin, at the time of crisis it is advisable to cut taxes and stimulate business.

“This is the primary task the Tax Code should fulfill rather than filling the budget. Because if businesses stop working, there will be no taxes. And if there are no taxes, there will be no social benefits. Now this is the main objective. When the country is in crisis, one needs to form effective demand, to give people an opportunity to earn more. If people cannot earn [their living], the state should provide high social standards, wages and pensions. If the state does not do it, then the government must resign,” Serhiy Lovochkin said.

According to him, the proposed amendments to the Tax Code do not allow businesses to develop.

“The conceptual approach to the writing of this document should be different from what it is now. It should boost business, not solve current issues of the government,” the member of parliament stated.

Regarding the State Budget for 2016, according to Serhiy Lovochkin, the draft, which is currently discussed in a working group, is not a real document, it does not exist in its final form, and therefore there is no sense to discuss it.
