The result of the Minsk talks is a global victory for the party of peace over the international party of war. This opinion was voiced by Serhiy Lovochkin, Deputy Chair of the OPPOSITION BLOC parliamentary faction on Thursday, February 12.

“Today is a great day not only for Ukraine, but also for Europe. In fact, the result of the Minsk talks is a global victory for the party of peace over the international party of war,” Serhiy Lovochkin said.

According to the MP, not all agreements reached are easy to implement. “Nonetheless, all of us together, the Parliament in the first place, should make an effort to create a committee to find comprehensive solutions to Donbas issues, which has repeatedly been offered by the OPPOSITION BLOC. We need this to implement all the agreements that have been reached in Minsk. They should be extended to take into account the social security of people in Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts, as well as demilitarization, local elections, the constitutional reform,” the politician added.

According to Serhiy Lovochkin, one should do everything to normalize the lives of people in Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts, to carry out effective government decentralization, which would result in new opportunities for development and governance for all regions of Ukraine.

“Anyone who will now try to re-ignite the fire of war, and will go against the reached agreements, is doomed to failure. There is no coming back to war. Of course, peace will not be established overnight. But the entire world community has now made a globally important decision. And we are happy that our land received hope for a lasting peace,” the member of parliament concluded.
