The blocked work of the Parliament is a consequence of a deep political crisis that arose from the lack of viable coalition in the parliament. Parliament dissolution and early elections of the Verkhovna Rada is the only effective way out of the situation. MP Serhiy Lovochkin (OPPOSITION BLOC) said this in his comments to the press.

“The blocked work of the Parliament is a consequence of a deep political crisis that is not over, unfortunately. “This is a consequence of the situation, where the Parliament does not have a viable coalition, it is also a consequence of the ongoing power struggle. The OPPOSITION BLOC sees only one effective way out - parliament dissolution and early elections to the Verkhovna Rada. This will result in the election of a new and effective Rada capable of forming an effective coalition and the Cabinet,” Serhiy Lovochkin said.

OB is outraged that the Parliament is not working and does not consider the bills that are needed to improve people’s lives, ensure effective development of the economy and overcome the crisis, the MP said.

Serhiy Lovochkin stressed that the government raised tariffs on request of the IMF relying on foreign loans. Ukraine is brought to bankruptcy by economic policies pursued first by the government of Yatseniuk, and now by the new government. “It should be understood that IMF loans are a temporary solution, since they will have to be paid back. They are not written off or forgiven. These debts will be paid back by several generations of Ukrainians. So I think that the implementation of effective policies will only be possible when professionals come to power, when an effective and professional government is formed. Then we can hope that negotiations on foreign loans with the IMF and the World Bank, and other partners will be more effective,” the MP believes.

According to him, the OPPOSITION BLOC will vigorously defend the need for changes to the budget. “The budget does not have enough money to cover the subsidies that can offset the growth of utility tariffs. We consider unacceptable the current increase of the tariffs. The real wages dropped by 10-12%, so the double increase in utility tariffs for heat and water is unacceptable,” the politician said.

He also added that the parliament should immediately adopt budget amendments proposed by the OPPOSITION BLOC that would increase the  minimum wage and pensions to a level that ensures a normal life. “The utility tariffs must be immediately reduced - such is our demand. There is only one method - it is necessary to build an effective team of negotiators and return to the negotiating table with the IMF. There is no other way,” the policy maker summed up.

Recall, on July 4 OB appealed to the Kyiv District Administrative Court with a lawsuit against the decision of the National Commission on Power and Utility Regulation to raise utility tariffs for heat and hot water.
