The Opposition Bloc advocates for changing the constitutional model of governing the country to a parliamentary one – Lovochkin
The Opposition Bloc intends to consistently defend the introduction of amandments to the Constitution of Ukraine, providing for the transition to a parliamentary model of government, MP of Ukraine, deputy head of the Opposition Bloc faction in the Verkhovna Rada Serhiy Lovochkin states.
“The Opposition Bloc has consistently advocated the reform of the Constitution. We believe that a parliamentary model of governance will be more effective for Ukraine,” S. Lovochkin said in an interview with the newspaper “Segodnya”.
To the question whether he will run for the next convocation of the parliament, the deputy said: “I have not yet made this decision, but I know for sure that our political party will take part in all the elections to be held: presidential, parliamentary and local, including in Donbas”.
S.Lovochkin also calls the negotiations of the US Special Representative for Ukraine Kurt Volker and presidential aide Vladislav Surkov the most promising for settling the situation in the east of Ukraine. “We hope for an early peaceful settlement. Negotiations are very difficult, because the situation in Donbas is very complicated. But, without a doubt, the Volker-Surkov design is the most promising negotiating mechanism. And if they manage to quickly agree on a Road map for the implementation of the Minsk agreements, peace in Donbas can be achieved in a matter of months,” he said.
Commenting on the publication of the US “Kremlin list”, the deputy noted that “the policy of sanctions did not justify itself”, citing at the same time “a significant number of European and American experts and politicians”. “I am, in principle, philosophically against the policy of international confrontation, since any conflict is a regress. In the modern world, everyone depends on each other, we should find compromises,” S. Lovochkin explained.
