The OPPOSITION BLOC registered amendments to the 2016 budget with increased social standards. The new draft budget proposes to raise the minimum wage to 1958 UAH, and the minimum pension - to UAH 1526. For this purpose members of the opposition suggest to earmark additional 62 billion UAH. They also envision to increase economic and regional development programs byUAH 10 billion. One of the leaders of the OPPOSITION BLOC Serhiy Lovochkin calls this draft “a budget of development.”
“We have been consulting with various factions in the parliament and, in principle, all support the need for change. We have developed a balanced and fair draft budget, which will provide significant funds for development and will give substantial funds to people. We suggest to review inflation and the national currency exchange rate, which already exceeded 24 hryvnias to the dollar, as has been included in the draft budget for the year, and the inflation will also exceed 12%. This will provide additional revenues in the amount of not less than 80 billion UAH,” Lovochkin said on Inter TV Channel.
In addition, according to the policy maker, the OPPOSITION BLOC proposes to cut unproductive spending (including the costs of the state apparatus, the maintenance of the parliament, government and presidential administration by 14 billion hryvnias).
The opposition also suggests to spend UAH 5.8 billion on social assistance to vulnerable people, 11.1 billion - on education and health care, 5 billion more on raising the housing subsidies. “The increase of people’s incomes will boost the domestic market development,” Lovochkin said.
