The constitutional reform should provide local governments with necessary administrative tools in their communities. MP Serhiy Lovochkin, Deputy Chairman of the parliamentary faction of the OPPOSITION BLOC said this on the sidelines of the Verkhovna Rada on Wednesday, February 11, the party press service reports.

“The constitutional reform is an important item on the OPPOSITION BLOC agenda. And we will do everything to ensure that local governments through constitutional reform received all necessary administrative tools in their communities. Because today the local authorities do not have the budget, nor any real mechanisms associated with the public administration in their territories, and this disheartens them,” Serhiy Lovochkin said.

According to him, the decentralization promised by the government does not take place. “What is offered now as a formula ‘backroom constitutional commissions’ or ‘decisions at the legislative level, without the constitutional reform’, we believe is a smoke screen. The OPPOSITION BLOC will insist on a referendum on amendments to the Constitution. We also launch the Shadow Cabinet, which will offer its own program of recovery. And we will do everything to implement our peace initiatives,” Serhiy Lovochkin summed up.
