“Country’s health begins with health of its citizens, that is why the country must regulate the drug market. To date, about 90% of expenditures for medicines is paid at the cost of the Ukrainian consumers. Thus, it is vitally important for the state to ensure availability and quality of medicines”.

The NEWSEP’s analytical report “Regulation of the Pharmaceutical Market in Ukraine: Problems and Solutions” prepared by the NEWSEP analytical center with the support of the World Bank in Ukraine demonstrates that despite certain positive changes, state regulation of the pharmaceutical market remains complex and insufficiently transparent. The report puts forward a set of specific recommendations for improving the institutional capability of the regulatory system, simplifying and increasing transparency of regulatory procedures and changing economic regulation of the pharmaceutical market of Ukraine.
