A miserly increase of the cost of living that acting administration introduced on July 1 is a government cheese as far as the cost of living set in the budget 2019 is twofold lower than the real one. This was stated by OPPOSITION PLATFORM — FOR LIFE MP Serhiy Lovochkin commenting on the social and economic situation in the country on the parliamentary election eve.

“The increase of the cost of living from 1,853 to 1,936 hryvnias means additional 67 –91 hryvnias for some categories of citizens and looks like a mockery in a situation when one hryvnia is now loose change. The real cost of living, according to official data by the Social Policy Ministry, is 3,691 hryvnias, but the government is reluctant to even meet its own minimal standards,” Lovochkin said.

The politician added that the minimal pension payment was increased by 67 hryvnias and reached 1,564 hryvnias, which is a 2.2-hryvnia increase per day.

“The cynicism of the situation is that after all ‘increases’ of pension payments trumpeted by the acting administration, the minimal pension in real dollar terms is by a third lower than in 2013. I am certain that the new government formed after the election will improve the situation. The minimal social payments must correlate with the real cost of living,” Lovochkin said.
