To stop the farce, forgery and speculation around the murder of former MP Oleh Kalashnikov, the Interior Ministry and the Prosecutor General's Office with the permission of the investigator should disclose the information of pre-trial investigation. This request was made by MP Serhiy Lovochkin (OPPOSITION BLOC), the party press service reports.

“Given the publicity of Kalashnikov’s murder and the fact that the criminal proceedings in this case were used by the Interior Ministry leadership to discredit their political opponents, I demand that the Interior Ministry of Ukraine and the Prosecutor General’s Office disclose the information of pre-trial investigation into the murder of Oleh Kalashnikov based on Article 222 of the Code of Criminal Procedure of Ukraine, according to which such information may be disclosed with the permission of the investigator or the prosecutor,” the MP said in his address to the law enforcement agencies.

Liovochkin recalled that on July 2 the Verkhovna Rada had received a letter from the Interior Minister, in which the people’s deputy was summoned for questioning as a witness in the criminal proceedings in the case of the murder of former MP Oleh Kalashnikov. “I am convinced that the transparency of the investigation process will stop the farce, which the investigation into this matter has turned into and stop the forgery of materials. The society is not informed about the investigation progress under the pretext of ensuring the secrecy of the investigation, which apparently is devised to conceal the truth about the customers and executors of this crime, and to achieve the political ends of the Interior Minister from the Popular Front,” the politician pointed out.

“I will make sure I provide all necessary evidence publicly and openly and take part in any proceedings necessary to investigate the case, and the best way to do it is after the competent authority makes a decision on public disclosure of materials of relevant criminal proceedings,” Lovochkin added.
