Despite working hard, the mono-majority in the Ukrainian parliament does not pass bills that are needed for the state, MP Serhiy Lovochkin told reporters on the sidelines of the Verkhovna Rada, commenting on parliamentary session results.

“On one hand I like the way the mono-majority works, how they are able to stand corrected. When they propose an immature bill, they can scrap it, make necessary amendments, and correct their own mistakes. On the other hand, this itself is a sign of being unprofessional, of being poorly prepared, and having low quality to their work. Many drafts need to be rewritten. And this is very sad because while the situation with the nation is getting worse, this unprofessionalism and continuing mistakes shatter the people’s faith that the things will get better,” the politician said.

He noted that current parliamentary session has not brought peace in Ukraine any closer and has not been able to reverse negative trends in economy.

“The economy keeps stagnating, hryvnia strengthens or weakens upon influence of factors independent from Ukrainian economy, which is investors buying or selling very expensive government securities. And the situation with social protection deteriorates correspondingly,” Lovochkin said.

“But most important is that draft bills on bringing peace to the nation are not being proposed for voting,” the MP said.
