Only real and consistent implementation of critically needed reforms will ensure Ukraine’s progress on the path of European integration, Deputy Chair of the OPPOSITION BLOC parliamentary faction Serhiy Lovochkin said.
“Only reforms, daily work and coordinated efforts of the entire country can bring us closer to our goal - a European Ukraine,” Serhiy Lovochkin said.
According to him, the current government is increasingly focusing on making promises in matters of European integration, while the actual results of its work do not advance, but rather delay the prospect of Ukraine integration into European organizations.
“Once again, we hear the promise to introduce a visa-free regime, or announce another date of Ukraine's accession to the EU. And yet, the Cabinet is unable to make a clear plan for the development and adoption of laws on European integration. Instead, they ask to support reform in Ukraine with investments without making these reforms,” Serhiy Lovochkin said.
He said that every Ukrainian politician realized that the bulk of the work to achieve EU membership for Ukraine was our homework. “This is a difficult task that requires constant dedication and coordination of many institutions. Everyone, who took part in the development of the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement that has now come into force, knows it firsthand,” the MP said.
The politician also expressed confidence that Ukraine would have an opportunity to find real European prospects and integrate into European organizations. “Ukraine is Europe, and Europe is impossible without Ukraine. I believe that this position of European pragmatists will become close to those, who now consider themselves Euroskeptics, and to Eurooptimists,” Serhiy Lovochkin summed up.
Recall, on April 27 in Kiev, European Commissioner for Enlargement and Neighborhood Policy Johannes Hahn said that the European Union expected the Ukrainian authorities to reform the judicial branch, change the principles of PGO work as well as adopt amendments to the Constitution.
