OPPOSITION PLATFORM — FOR LIFE insists on adoption of the opposition bill. This was stated by MP Serhiy Lovochkin in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.

“Not a single bill proposed by the opposition has been discussed by the Verkhovna Rada, and this is shameful. We are negotiating with the Rada leadership to have separate days designated for consideration of bills submitted by the opposition,” the politician said.

“The parliament is not only about the parliamentary majority. Not a single democratic country has its opposition deprived of the legislative initiative right. During the previous Rada convocation, we would offer draft bills in packages, but nothing would happen afterwards, none of the bills had been put on the agenda. This practice prevailed over previous five years and has continued into the present convocation. We oppose this approach and demand that the majority listens to the opposition,” Lovochkin said.

The MP said that OPPOSITION PLATFORM — FOR LIFE had registered the bill “On parliamentary opposition.”

“It’s definitely important for the state that the opposition bill is passed. The opposition must control the government and work for the benefits of the state and the people. We will demand that the opposition bill is adopted as soon as possible, as it was among the campaign promises of the president and his party, Sluha Narodu,” Lovochkin said.

“We insist that one day per plenary week is dedicated to consideration of draft bills submitted by the opposition,” the MP said.

As reported earlier, OPPOSITION PLATFORM — FOR LIFE faction has proposed several draft bills to the Verkhovna Rada of the 9th convocation aimed at improvement of the social situation in the country. They include bills on amortization of population’s debts for utility services, on banning of gas and heating tariffs increase for population, on restoring state regulation of consumer prices for essential goods, and on revoking of healthcare reform and a number of provisions of the pension reform.
