Press release issued by leaders of the ‘Normandy Four’ clearly articulates responsibilities of all parties for the sake of peace restoration in the Donbas, OPPOSITION PLATFORM – FOR LIFE MP Serhiy Lovochkin told reporters on Dec. 10.

“We expect that decisions of the Paris talks will be put into effect. Foremost, in the part of practical implementation of the Minsk agreements, and secondly, in terms of deals in the energy sector, including gas transit through Ukraine and direct sales of cheap gas to Ukraine,” the politician said.

Lovochkin stressed the importance of renewing the dialogue at the highest political level and signing a joint communique following the meeting.

“This document might be titled ‘Paris-1.’ It clearly articulates responsibilities of Ukraine, Russia, and the European partners on taking concrete steps aimed at restoring peace in the Donbas,” the politician said.

“We hope the practical results of this meeting will be put on the agenda of the Verkhovna Rada and the government. It will improve the situation in the Donbas and move us all towards peace,” Lovochkin explained.

The MP confirmed that OPPOSITION PLATFORM – FOR LIFE faction will vote for the bill on special status for the Donbas.

“We believe this bill must be enacted for good, not for one year. Our faction will always support any bill that moves peace in the Donbas nearer,” Lovochkin said.
