President Zelensky and his party must demonstrate their political will and responsibility to the people of Ukraine for the election pledges and pass the bills that are needed within the shortest possible time. This was stated by OPPOSITION PLATFORM – FOR LIFE MP Serhiy Lovochkin on air of ‘60 Minutes’ show on Russia-1 TV channel.

“People in Ukraine want peace in the Donbas. In his inauguration speech President Zelensky said he was willing to make deals for the sake of peace with anyone and by all means. I think the Foreign Affairs Ministry didn’t hear it clear enough because many of the officials continue acting within the paradigm of Poroshenko, who didn’t want peace, he wanted to make war. I hope the changes in the Ministry will finalize soon, and there will come people who would adhere to Zelenskyi’s foreign policy doctrine,” Lovochkin said.

“We hope that the Foreign Affairs Ministry will be more competent and more meaningful and will execute the peace strategy exclusively. Especially given the fact that more than 80 percent of Ukrainian citizens, according to social researches, want peace, and 60 percent support the Minsk agreements,” the politician said.

He added that recently visited Zolote in the Donbas, one of the three pilot locations for troops disengagement.

“People keep saying one thing there: they want peace. And not a single official has the right to deprive them of this right to live in the peaceful country,” he said.

The MP said that OPPOSITION PLATFORM – FOR LIFE supports Minsk peace initiatives and introduced all bills required for their implementation.

“We hope that Zelenskyi’s mono majority will keep up with its election pledges and pass all the bills that are needed for the Minsk agreements implementation. These bills are quite simple, there are just four of them. President Zelensky and his party must demonstrate their political will and responsibility to the people of Ukraine for the election pledges and pass the bills that are needed within the shortest possible time. It will help defrost the peace process that had been frozen by President Poroshenko and bring peace to Ukraine, to the Donbas,” Lovochkin said.
