“Enhancing energy efficiency is a rescue for people in times when tariffs for gas and heating have been increased several times. According to the World Bank, energy efficient measures in the heat sector can decrease the expense of Ukrainian households on heating by 40%. Reducing dependence on the natural gas import, decreasing the heating expense of population, improving the environmental situation by curbing the greenhouse gas emissions - these goals are worth working for”.

The NEWSEP analytical center actively works over the energy efficiency issue of Ukraine. Together with the UNDP, it has initiated the creation of energy efficiency indicators under the methodology of the International Energy Agency in the framework of two joint projects - Ukraine’s Energy Efficiency Monitoring and Energy Efficiency of Heat Supply Rating. The task of the Monitoring is to calculate energy efficiency indicators and analyze energy saving potential in agriculture, mining industry, branches of processing industry, construction, service industry, housing sector and energy transformation at thermal power plants.
