Ukrainian politicians and parliamentarians are actively discussing the idea of deploying peacemakers in Donbas. Actually, those people who have to formulate and approve concrete decisions on the work of this mission. The position of the Opposition Bloc on peacemakers for Donbas for “Details” was voiced by Serhiy Lovochkin.

“The Opposition Bloc offered as early as 2014 the idea to use the blue helmets of the UN. It was included in the list of 10 initiatives for peaceful settlement, which we put forward. We are glad that, in the end, the government listened to this idea, and now it becomes dominant.

We are very pleased that the peace process finds its continuation and development. We believe that the peacemaking contingent will participate in the territory of Donetsk and Lugansk oblasts; this is a big step towards peace. The main task of Ukraine at this UN General Assembly is to get a decision on the introduction of peacemakers in Donbas.

This will give a new stage to the peaceful regulation and this will become a real step towards a ceasefire. We, the Opposition Bloc, are ready to support in parliament any draft laws that will settle the situation in Donbas. Our main goal is peace. We are ready to vote for all the laws that will bring peace to our country.

Immediately after the ceasefire, we demand all social payments to all citizens of Ukraine in the territory of the conflict to be resumed. We demand the Ukrainian government to resume the work of the banking system of state institutions as soon as there is such an opportunity,” Serhiy Lovochkin says.
